Meet the Orthodontist

Dr. Pickard opened the doors of his orthodontic office in 1991, after receiving his Master of Science degree as a specialist in Orthodontics from Washington University. Prior to that, he spent ten years in general dentistry practice. He received his DDS degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he was elected to the honorary societyDr. Pickard Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Pickard is secretary/treasurer of the Washington University Orthodontic Study Group and a founder of the Greater St. Louis Orthodontic Study Club. He was formerly on the faculty at St. Louis University School of Orthodontics, serving as a clinical instructor. Dr. Pickard is an ABO board-certified member of the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists). He has been honored as a diplomate of the International College of Dentists.  Closer to home, he was named one of our region's "Top Docs" by "St. Louis Magazine".

Bob could be considered both a local boy and a man of the world. He graduated from Parkway Central High School and Washington University. But, as a child, he lived in such exotic out of the way places as Kwajalein Island and Pakistan and travelled extensively. Stemming from those early childhood experiences, Dr. Pickard has an abiding interest in travel and geography. He welcomes any challenger to quiz him on world capitals. (He knows some really obscure places.)

Dr. Pickard has been passionate about energy issues since long before the subject of "global warming" dominated the news. Consequently, you may see him riding his bike to the office, which he does in all seasons and practically any kind of weather. Putting his values into practice, he was the first homeowner in Ballwin to retrofit his house with a geothermal heating and cooling system.

He also likes to play tennis, solve the sudoku and crossword puzzles in the paper, work in the yard, and read about philosophy and physics. Dr. Pickard is a not a boring guy!
