When you call our office, Deanna's is likely the first voice you will hear. Comfortable and capable in the front desk position, Deanna spent several years here working as a clinical assistant. If you have questions that you forgot to ask while in the chair, such as "How do these rubber bands go?" or "What shouldn't I eat while wearing this appliance?", Deanna, with her clinical knowledge, will have the answer. Deanna is a twin who is married to a twin, and their daughters, born less than a year apart, are practically twins. A lover of both people and animals, Deanna has two cats, two dogs (including an adorable miniature pinscher puppy), a rabbit, a hamster, a chinchilla, a prairie dog, and a bearded dragon (a relatively small lizard). As if that were not enough, her equestrian-minded daughter convinced her to buy a horse to add to her "country zoo." Deanna will gladly regale you with stories of the rewards and challenges of pet ownership and parenthood.
Meet Kelly, our accounts coordinator and newest team member. Kelly combines great confidence and skill in numerical tasks with a winning way with people. Trained at Missouri College, she began her orthodontic career as an assistant but fairly quickly found her true niche at the front desk, especially in the area of insurance. Although the maze of insurance plans can be difficult to navigate, Kelly looks on it as a sort of game. Working to help patients maximize their benefits, she want to make sure the patient comes out a winner. Kelly is also our resident "party girl". Although new to the practice, she has taken the lead in planning office team-building and charitable activities, including our participation in the "Shamrocks for Dystrophy" fund-raiser. An accomplished high school athlete lettering in softball, basketball and soccer, Kelly's current athletic gifts are spent playing ball with her husband and two young sons. Interestingly, as Kelly's husband investigates possible opportunities in professional slow-pitch softball, her two-year old displays a precocious ability with a bat and ball. Kelly says she believes that things happen for a reason. We're happy that Kelly happened to find her way to Pickard Orthodontics, and we think our patients will be happy too.
On your first visit to our office, you will likely spend some time with Kathy, who is our resident photographer and records specialist. Kathy will take your pictures, x-rays, and impressions. She also works chair-side. Kathy has been a steady presence at Pickard Orthodontics for eight years. A sun-worshipper, Kathy loves the beaches and blue waters of Mexico and the Caribbean and spends at least one week each year soaking up the rays in some sunny ocean-side resort. When it's warm here, Kathy can be found tending her garden, where her summer squash grows to legendary size. Her diverse interests range from reading to riding a Harley with her boyfriend. Kathy's newest role is that of proud grandmother of "the world's most adorable baby boy".
Fran likes to remind us that "good things come in small packages," and Fran is living proof of that. Though small in stature, Fran is big on personality. She makes the instructional "tooth talk" fun, as well as informative. Fran has many talents and many interests. At one time, she considered a career in ballet. Now, however, she pursues dance and yoga as hobbies. Her greatest and most enduring interest is her daughter, the light of her life. Professionally, Fran pursued her dental assisting training in Kansas City but moved back home to St. Louis to be close to family. Kansas City's loss is our gain.
Originally from the Philippines, Reina moved to the United States as a young child. If you are familiar with Spanish, then you know that "Reina" means "queen." Reina is certainly regal in appearance, but she has a very down-to-earth, woman-of-the-people style---and a sharp wit, too. And you wouldn't believe how mechanically handy Reina is. She can fix anything, from dental equipment to automobiles. Naturally, she's a whiz with orthodontic appliances. Nurturing her artistic side, Reina performs in a traditional Filippino dance troupe and is learning how to play drums. She's up on all the latest trends, from clothing to music to technology. Her current passion is bowling, and she lights up the lanes with---what else---a bubble-gum pink bowling ball.
