Meet the Team
Our clinical staff

deanna When you call our office, Deanna's is likely the first voice you will hear. Comfortable and capable in the front desk position, Deanna spent several years here working as a clinical assistant. If you have questions that you forgot to ask while in the chair, such as "How do these rubber bands go?" or "What shouldn't I eat while wearing this appliance?", Deanna, with her clinical knowledge, will have the answer. Deanna is a twin who is married to a twin, and their daughters, born less than a year apart, are practically twins. A lover of both people and animals, Deanna has two cats, three dogs (a boxer, a miniature pinscher, and a new Cairn terrier puppy), a hamster, a prairie dog, and a bearded dragon (a relatively small lizard). As if that were not enough, her equestrian-minded daughter convinced her to buy a horse to add to her "country zoo." Deanna will gladly regale you with stories of the rewards and challenges of pet ownership and parenthood.

Kelley
Meet Kelley, our financial coordinator. Kelley comes to us with an eclectic business background, having experience in accounting, management, human resources, sales and customer service. You’ll find Kelley to be very knowledgeable and capable in handling all aspects of your account, including investigating insurance benefits and filing and following up on claims. If you have questions about your account, Kelley is sure to have the answers.
Kelley lives in St. Charles with her husband and two sons. The men in her life have to compete for Kelley’s affection with “her girls”---two adorable shitzus, named Gadget and Libby. In addition to family (both human and canine), Kelley has many interests, chief among which is travel. Greece and the Caribbean Islands are some of her favorite destinations outside the United States, and this year she is hoping to add Croatia to that list. Within our borders, she has visited thirty-six of the fifty states. Recently, she and her husband purchased an RV, from which they plan, eventually, to take in the other fourteen states. Kelley has a flair for home decorating which she has put to good use in rehabbing homes with her contractor-husband. Or perhaps the rehabbing is just an excuse for indulging her not-so-secret obsession---Kelley is a Craig’s List “addict”.

kathy On your first visit to our office, you will likely spend some time with Kathy, who is our resident photographer and records specialist. Kathy will take your pictures, x-rays, and impressions. She also works chair-side. Kathy has been a steady presence at Pickard Orthodontics for eight years. A sun-worshipper, Kathy loves the beaches and blue waters of Mexico and the Caribbean and spends at least one week each year soaking up the rays in some sunny ocean-side resort. When it's warm here, Kathy can be found tending her garden, where her summer squash grows to legendary size. Her diverse interests range from reading to riding a Harley with her boyfriend.  Kathy's newest role is that of proud grandmother of "the world's most adorable little boy".

fran Fran likes to remind us that "good things come in small packages," and Fran is living proof of that. Though small in stature, Fran is big on personality. She makes the instructional "tooth talk" fun, as well as informative. Fran has many talents and many interests. At one time, she considered a career in ballet. Now, however, she pursues dance and yoga as hobbies. Her greatest and most enduring interest is her daughter, the light of her life. Professionally, Fran pursued her dental assisting training in Kansas City but moved back home to St. Louis to be close to family. Kansas City's loss is our gain.

reinaOriginally from the Philippines, Reina moved to the United States as a young child. If you are familiar with Spanish, then you know that "Reina" means "queen." Reina is certainly regal in appearance, but she has a very down-to-earth, woman-of-the-people style---and a sharp wit, too. And you wouldn't believe how mechanically handy Reina is. She can fix anything, from dental equipment to automobiles. Naturally, she's a whiz with orthodontic appliances.   Nurturing her artistic side, Reina performs in a traditional Filippino dance troupe and is learning how to play drums.  She's up on all the latest trends, from clothing to music to technology.  And she's quite the athlete, too.  Reina plays kickball and volleyball and is an accomplished bowler.

Patty

With the addition of our Sunset Hills office, we’ve added three new staff members to our team...

Patty may be new on the staff of Pickard Orthodontics, but she’s anything but new to orthodontic assisting.  In fact, with 23 years dedicated to the profession, she is our most experienced assistant.  Ever open to new ideas, Patty was thrilled to be introduced to indirect bonding, a technique we use for placing braces all at once.  Learning new things keeps Patty (and all of us) fresh, focused and fulfilled at work.  At home, Patty is focused on family (including the furry kind), friends, and church.  Her “baby”, Chloe, is a Maltese---8 fluffy pounds of perfect puppy.  Shopper extraordinaire, Patty loves spending her free time shopping for nieces and nephews, friends, and friends’ children.  In fact, she puts all that shopper know-how to good use at the office, where she orders our professional supplies.

Sarah“What’s black and white and red all over?”  Sarah’s recent wedding!  Sarah is another new team member and also a newlywed.  Obsessed with anything “zebra”, Sarah was determined to make her wedding a classic black and white affair.  When her mother suggested she add a splash of color, she opted for deep red---to dramatic effect.  Dramatic also describes her arrival at the outdoor chapel in a horse-drawn carriage.  In the office, Sarah foregoes the drama and her preference for black and white to don scrubs in the color of the day.  Sarah has been both a dental assistant and an orthodontic assistant and definitely prefers the latter, which she has been doing for three years.  She has both her Basics and Expanded Functions certificates in orthodontic assisting.  Though adept at many tasks, her favorite part of the job happens at the debonding appointment, while assisting with removal of a patient’s braces.  She loves seeing the “unveiling” of each new smile---especially when the patient has heeded our words about the importance of good oral hygiene.  If you want a smile like Sarah’s, that’s key!

JessicaMeet Jessica, whose friendly voice you’ll hear on the other end of the line when you call one of our offices.  Jessica’s main role here is appointment scheduler.  Having spent four years at St. Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education where she scheduled patients for all the orthodontic residents, Jessica knows how to handle a busy schedule.  Her scheduling skill must come in handy for handling her own busy schedule.  In addition to work, she has a full time job caring for her active three-year old son, plus she is a student at St. Louis University, majoring in organizational studies.  Figures!  An avid reader, Jessica fills whatever leisure time she has with books.  Turns out she is also a bit of a dare devil, seeking thrills by riding roller coasters and jumping out of airplanes.
